Collection: 5500-umbra
When we moved from Vienna in Austria to the Hague in the Netherlands, I spent much time thinking about being a „stranger" and the "feeling of home“. It became important to express my thoughts in a photo project. The final push came when another dad at the international school our son went to said:
"It is so lovely, our children are skin color blind."
I wanted to capture this feeling with my camera. Neither color of skin, nationality, religion, social standing nor sex should be visible; yet the person should be perceptible.
The project „5500-Umbra“ was born.
5500 Kelvin is the daylight temperature and Umbra means shadow in Latin
„Light-Shadow“
Exposed were people from
Austria, Brunei, China, Germany, England, Japan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Venezuela
My sincerest thanks goes to each individual who was willing to stand behind the canvas, helping me to put my thoughts to photos.
Each print is signed and limited to a number of 3.
